    BJP leader held on charges of extortion in Assam's Lakhimpur

    Digital Desk: A BJP leader in Lakhimpur, Assam, has been taken into custody on charges of extortion and brokerage.

    The BJP politician identified as Keramat Ali was also the chairman of the Minorities Development Board in the Lakhimpur district. He is charged with using the names of MLAs and MPs to extort money from individuals.

    Ali is accused of demanding money in exchange for government jobs. The BJP leader is accused of misleading people by pretending to have intimate ties to MLAs and other high-ranking BJP officials.
