    Bajali Police arrests prime accused of petrol-bomb attack

    Pathsala: On Monday, Bajali police authorities arrested the key accused of Petrol-bomb attack on the house of AGP (Assam Gana Parishad) leader Dr. Ranjit Deka.





    The prime accused has been identified as Mintu Ali of Pathsala town in Bajali district.





    The 24-year-old Mintu Ali reportedly threw petrol bombs at Deka's house at about 9 pm on August 6.





    On August 6, it was suspected that some of the miscreants threw petrol bombs into the residence of AGP chief Ranjit Deka.





    Deka contested the last Assam Assembly elections on an AGP ticket from the Bhabanipur constituency, as per sources. He manages the 'Anundoram Baruah Academy,' a well-known private educational institute.





    Throughout the event, Deka's family members were present in residence. After around 30 minutes of the event, Mintu Ali reportedly warned Deka's wife over the mobile phone.





    The wife of Ranjit Deka, Nandita Barman, stated, "Nearly half an hour following the incident, a Hindi-speaking person had called me from an unknown number and asked me to meet their requirements. When I asked him what their demands were, the caller replied that he would call me back and dropped the call."





    Bajali SP (Superintendent of Police), Dharmendra Das, informed, "His warning call provided us a hint to the spot where we traced him. A laptop and 13 mobile phone collections have been collected from the house of Mintu Ali. Further probe is on."
