Digital Desk: As part of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued transfer orders for non-cadre officials holding the positions of Superintendent of Police (SP) and District Magistrate (DM) in Gujarat, Punjab, Odisha, and West Bengal.

Officers from the Indian Administrative and Police Services typically fill these roles. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar agreed with the ECI's statement that this action demonstrates the ECI's dedication to preserving fairness and the integrity of the election process.

Following a meeting convened by the Commission and headed over by Chief Electoral Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, a decision has been made to transfer several members of staff.

Officers from the districts of Pathankot, Fazilka, Jalandhar Rural, and Malerkotla in Punjab, as well as SPs from Chhota Udaipur and Ahmedabad Rural in Gujarat, are among those set for transfer. Along with the DM of Purba Medinipur, Jhargram, Purba Bardhaman, and Birbhum districts of West Bengal, the DM of Dhenkanal and SPs of Deogarh and Cuttack Rural in Odisha will also be transferred.

Additionally, in an effort to prevent any potential bias or compromise in administration, the families of elected political representatives in SSP Bathinda, Punjab, and SP Sonitpur, Assam, will be transferred.
