Digital Desk: Raijor Dal chief and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi predicted that Assam's economic condition would be similar to that of Sri Lanka.

In response to the amount of debt owed by the Assam government, Gogoi stated that the central government has stopped sanctioning loans to the state government.

"As of November 2022, the amount of debt owed by the Assam government remains at Rs.1,27,073 crore. The debt was Rs. 41,946 crores as of 2016. Our state is not far from experiencing an economic catastrophe comparable to the one currently affecting Sri Lanka," the Sivasagar MLA said.

Earlier, on the first day of the Assam Assembly Budget session, Akhil Gogoi launched an attack on the Assam government, claiming that the government had always attempted to suppress crucial issues.

Akhil Gogoi continued by referring to the chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, as the two "Hitlers" of India.

Beginning with the speech of newly appointed Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Akhil Gogoi stated that it was completely incorrect and full of lies. According to him, the topic of Assam's attempt to join the Guinness Book of World Records with a special Bihu performance should not have been included in the governor's speech.

"A Bihu performance to join the Guinness Book of World Records, the Prime Minister coming to see the performance. Are these issues significant enough to merit a mention in his speech? These are only minor issues. The government attempts to suppress the important issues at hand by bringing up these concerns," Akhil Gogoi said.

"We had just brought up the dog meat row, and cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika could not handle it," Akhil Gogoi added.

Akhil Gogoi continued by highlighting current problems in the society. He criticized the Assam government for its handling of the law and order situation, claiming that the reality is very different from what the government is claiming. To prove his argument, Gogoi cited Assam's high rate of sexual violence against women.

The Raijor Dal leader added that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attempting to claim credit for the inclusion of Maidams in Charaideo on the World Heritage list on a temporary basis. He claimed that the Guinness Book of World Records is just a volume that lacks UNESCO's signature.

Moreover, Gogoi had labeled both the Central and state governments bankrupt. Currently, the Centre does not grant loans to the Assam government. He claimed that the government is trying to hold Bihu's performance by borrowing Rs 100 crores from the open market.

Meanwhile, returning his attention to the dog meat dispute, Akhil Gogoi said, "An MLA from Maharashtra insulted the people of Assam saying that we consume dog meat. It is disappointing that our assembly did not take any action to combat it. Pijush Hazarika couldn't handle it when we brought it up as if it were burning him from within."

"Despite the fact that we filed approximately 20 cases in connection with the matter, no action was done against him. On the other hand, a single Facebook comment against the CM is enough to justify nearly a lakh cases against a person. In India, there are only two Hitlers one is our Prime Minister and the other is our chief minister," Akhil Gogoi.
