    Digital Desk: A firing incident in Karimganj district of Assam on Monday has sparked turmoil in the region. 

    The incident took place at Balia-Achhanala village under Nilam Bazaar Police Station's jurisdiction, resulting in severe injuries to several individuals, including women and children. 

    The injured have been rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) for urgent medical care.

    Preliminary reports suggest a longstanding dispute among residents of Achhanala village, particularly involving Abul Kalam, Hasan Ahmed, and Khayrul Islam. Today, allegations point to Hasan Ahmed for firing shots targeting four individuals from the opposing faction, leading to injuries to Abul Kalam, Hasan Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Safiya Begum.

    Locals promptly assisted the injured, transporting them to Nilam Bazaar Primary Health Center before being referred to SMCH due to their critical condition. Officer-in-Charge Deep Jyoti Malakar, accompanied by police officers, has initiated an investigation into the incident. Furthermore, police have seized several air guns from the village to prevent further violence.
