    Five more Sainik schools needed in Assam to elevate the education sector: CM Sarma

    Guwahati: To elevate the education sector of the state, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged the Union Defense minister Rajnath Singh for five more Sainik Schools in the state.





    In connection to it, the Assam CM called on the Defence minister in the national capital requesting to grant permission for the same on Thursday.





    Reportedly, the Sainik schools will be established in Golaghat, Cachar, Dhemaji, Karbi Anglong and Kokrajhar.

    Assam CM tweeted, “Called on Hon Raksha Mantri Sri @rajnathsingh and requested the@DefenceMinIndia kindly grant permission for five more Sainik Schools in Assam in Golaghat, Cachar, Dhemaji, Karbianglong and Kokrajhar. Requisite land has been identified by District Administrations.”





    Moreover, the CM Sarma also requested the union minister to expedite the Brahmaputra underwater tunnel project at Tezpur as planned by Border Roads Organization (BRO).





    Earlier, the Assam CM met Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi to discuss the status of various National Highway projects which has been implemented in the state.
