Digital Desk: According to an official report, the flood situation in Assam remained grave on Saturday, with over 4.88 lakh people affected so far.
Major rivers were in spate across the state, with the meteorological department warning of further rains and thunderstorms in various places.

The Puthimari and Pagladiya rivers' water levels have surpassed the red line in Kamrup and Nalbari districts, respectively, according to the report.

The Bajali sub-division has been impacted the hardest by the deluge, with 2.67 lakh people affected.
Nalbari and Barpeta districts have also been severely damaged, with approximately 80,000 and 73,000 people affected, respectively.
Over 35,000 people are staying in 140 relief camps. Another 75 relief distribution sites are also functional.
Various agencies, including the NDRF, SDRF, civil defense forces, and residents, have been aiding the administration with rescue and relief activities.

Landslides and urban flooding have also been observed in several areas, the report stated.
