Digital Desk: The investigation into the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in Dhekiajuli is moving forward after the Assam CID detained the then-superintendent of police and the executive magistrate of Dalgaon Revenue Circle for conducting a substandard investigation to cover up the crime and grant the accused undue favours.
Ashirbad Hazarika, the Executive Magistrate of Dalgaon Revenue Circle in the Darrang district, surrendered himself in to CID investigators late on Thursday night, hours after suspended SP Rajmohan Roy was taken into custody. Later, the due were imprisoned.
In connection with the death case, the CID had served Hazarika with a summons and requested him to appear before the investigating officer on November 9. Nevertheless, he did not show up.

Hazarika has been on the run after his name came up during the investigation before finally surrendering.
Prior to the arrests of the Darrang SP and the Dalgaon Executive Magistrate, Darrang ASP Rupam Phukan, as well as three Mangaldoi Civil Hospital doctors - Dr. Arun Ch. Deka, Dr. Ajanta Bordoloi, and Dr. Anupam Sharma were detained in connection with the death of the 13-year-old minor.
The three doctors were arrested for certifying the minor girl's death as a suicide case in the initial post-mortem report.
