Digital Desk: Aspiring candidates filed a total of 33 nomination forms for the 10 positions up for election in the
Gauhati Press Club (GPC) as of today.
Up of May 21, 2023, 51 nomination papers have been collected, with 21 candidates collecting double forms.
Seven aspirants filed two applications for the same role, out of the 33 forms that were received till the closure of nominations today, while one applicant submitted two applications for two different positions.
For each of the ten positions, the following numbers of applicants have submitted nominations:
1. President : 3
2. Vice President: 2
3. Vice President (R) : 2
4. General Secretary : 2
5. Assistant General Secretary : 4
6. Assistant General Secretary (R): 2
7. Organizing Secretary: 2
8. Treasurer: 2
9. Cultural Secretary : 4
10. Sports Secretary: 3
The
GPC Election Committee has announced in a press release that the scrutinised list of candidates will be released on May 25, 2023.
The final list of contestants will be released on May 27, 2023, at 6 p.m., and the last day for candidates to withdraw is May 27, 2023.
The GPC election is scheduled for June 3, 2023, and the counting of votes will be on June 4, 2023.
