Guwahati Crisis: Atrocities for senior citizens and people rising in the city
Digital Desk: When Guwahati city has touched pinnacles in its development, crime and killing have also taken the same line. The atrocity faced by the senior citizens and those individuals living independently in the city has created chaos among the people.

With each day passing by, cases have been recorded in the city where individuals have faced severe atrocities and fear of living independently. In addition, the rate of murder cases has peaked in the city with its growing metropolitan development.

It seems like a parody. The city residents have witnessed the fastest development with better technology, highly qualified specialists in every state department, innovations, and initiatives. But, on the other hand, authorities have failed to provide good service to the city's public as crime rates have misplaced the rising rate of the latest developments.

If you consider the last few months, murders have evolved as a daily occurrence for the city. A few days ago, a middle-aged businessman was slain in a shooting incident in Guwahati's Chatribari neighborhood. The man died of his injuries after being transported to a private hospital after the event.

The victim has been identified as businessman Avdesh Yadav (40), who was on his way home when two unidentified individuals ambushed him on a motorcycle and fled the scene after firing at Yadav. According to local media accounts, Yadav was robbed of a large sum of money after the shooting, although the police have not confirmed this.

Moreover, an elderly couple murdered in Guwahati created sensations among the public a few months ago. In a shocking change of events, the caregiver, Akash Choudhury, has been identified as the mastermind in the gruesome murder case of an elderly couple in Guwahati, Assam.

The fingerprints of Akash Choudhury were discovered at the crime scene. While the police were questioning his wife, he was arrested on suspicion of his role in the case. Akash Choudhury, identified as the architect of the heinous murder, appeared before the Kamrup (Metro) court of the chief judicial magistrate and was remanded in police custody for seven days.

These cases are not only the cases that were recorded in the city. What about those cases which were never registered with the back of high-profile officers involved in crime and atrocities. The reality of murder cases recorded in the city has been lessened with a huge number due to those specially made to hold a position in authority to hide the crime and give a thumb for criminals.

Considering these cases mentioned above, some have made headlines and reached out to people. However, even though these cases have created sensations among residents, these cases still require proper probes and proper judgments for punishment.

Even after making investigations, it is sad to witness that people forget cases after a few days. But, significantly, this notion provides a way for high-profile hands to close the case.

Last year, In the city's Uzanbazar neighborhood, a 14-year-old girl was slain. The victim's cousin was apprehended and charged with her murder.

In Guwahati's Boragaon neighborhood, a woman was brutally murdered at her home. According to sources, the deceased's chopped-up body parts were discovered wrapped in plastic bags inside the bedroom. Santosh Gupta, the woman's husband, has been apprehended, according to the police team.

If you read through the case details and update taking headlines, you will consider that the probing is indefinite and slow. When Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked police authorities to keep hawk eyes upon the crimes in the state, crimes linked with anonymous murders rose.

What can be the reason behind the increasing atrocities in the city? Can it be said that these incidents show the negligence of officials in finding the true criminals? Or can this be said that certain officials are under the words of high-profile leaders and work accordingly to hide the crime and minimize the most significant issues taking place in the state?

It seems like high time for the people of the state to raise their voice upon the service provided by the government to safeguard lives and rights. Rights have been demolished with invariable restrictions, and voices have been shut with bucks and political tricks. The situation in the city is getting wrong. Guwahati crisis needs attention.
