    Guwahati: Fake Gold Seized from Kamakhya Railway Station, 2 Arrested

    A team of GRP officers launched a search operation at a platform of the Kamakhya Railway Station, where they detained the two gold traffickers.

    Digital Desk: On Wednesday, the Guwahati Police detained persons and recovered a fake gold statue in the shape of a boat from their possession.

    The gold smugglers have been identified as Jubair Ganibhai and Salim Majwathik.

    According to reports, the fake gold was concealed with suparis in a bag. The gold boat was allegedly being smuggled from Guwahati to Gujarat.

    On February 6, the city police detained two people in the Gorchuk neighbourhood and took a false boat-shaped gold statue from their hands. A squad of Gorchuk police raided a home in the Katahbari neighbourhood based on intelligence and took the duo's fake gold from their hands. Moinul Haque and Nazrul Islam are the people that were taken into custody.
