Digital Desk: The Kamrup (metropolitan) district administration has sprung into action as Guwahati grapples with artificial flooding triggered by continuous heavy rainfall over the past 48 hours. This deluge has left the city's drainage system useless, resulting in severe waterlogging across several areas.

In response to the worsening situation, the district administration has released a helpline number (9365429314) for citizens to register their complaints and seek assistance. The control room aims to provide vital directions and support to those affected by the flooding.

The situation remains grim for residents of "smart city" Guwahati, with many households trapped indoors for over 24 hours due to the rising floodwaters. Areas including Ulubari, Rajgarh, Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Gandhi Basti, Hatigaon, Zoo Road, Borbari, and RG Baruah Road have witnessed unprecedented water levels, disrupting normal life.

The regional meteorological center has forecasted a "Generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers" for today, keeping the city on alert for further rainfall and potential flooding.
