    Digital Desk: Days after two senior commanders of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) were apprehended in Assam, reports on Saturday stated that an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati student had joined the terrorist organization. 

    According to sources, the student's name is Tauseef Ali Farooqui. Initial reports state that he was abducted by ISIS militants from the Pan Bazaar area of Guwahati.

    Farooqui reported that he had joined ISIS while delivering mail. He stated in detail in the mail why he made such a bold decision

    Notably, the incident that occurred today happened only a few days after the Assam Police's Special Task Force (STF) thwarted a significant terrorist plot and arrested two senior ISIS leaders in India. 

    Anurag Singh, alias Rehan, and Haris Farooqi alias Harish Ajmal Farukhi, were the two accused. After they crossed the international border, they were apprehended in the Dharmasala area of Dhubri. 

    The leader of ISIS in India is said to be Haris Farooqi, a resident of Chakrata, Dehradun; his companion, Anurag Singh, was born in Diwana, Panipat, but converted to Islam; his wife is a citizen of Bangladesh. Both people are said to be highly indoctrinated and influence leaders/members of ISIS in India engaged in a range of evil operations such as funding terror, recruiting, and organizing terror attacks around the country using improvised explosive devices (IEDs). 

    The two have several pending cases at various agencies, including the ATS, Lucknow, Delhi, and the NIA. The accused would be turned over to the NIA for additional legal action against these fugitives by the STF, Assam. 

    The National Investigation Agency (NIA) reportedly took the two to Delhi on Thursday.
