    Digital Desk: A married couple was apprehended for allegedly attempting to peddle drugs in the Jalukbari area of Guwahati on Monday night. 

    The husband and wife duo were reportedly taken into custody by an Assam police team from the Special Operations Group (SOG) late on Monday night during a routine inspection. 

    Saddam Hussain and his wife Qarisan Nesa have been identified among the individuals who were arrested. The police found 14 containers of illegal substances in their possession during a frisking. Their motorcycle was also seized by the police. 

    Further investigation is underway.

    Earlier this month, a married couple was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) Assam in Khanapara, which is under the jurisdiction of Dispur PS. Twenty-five vials containing suspected heroin weighing 35.5 grams were taken from the couple. 

    In response to the information received, a raid was carried out in Khanapara, and the two habitual drug dealers were arrested. 

    During the operation, the STF Assam also found Rs 9,200 in cash, three cell phones, a lighter, and a headphone. 

    The 28-year-old son of Lt. Pradip Nath, Krishna Nath, and his 28-year-old wife, Bani Nath, have been identified as the individuals who were arrested. 

    Both of them are residents of Khanapara, Bhagavatpur, Dispur, Guwahati, and Kamrup (M).
