Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday that the state government will hold a recruitment event on Thursday, May 25 at the Veterinary College ground in Guwahati's Khanapara, where 44,703 applicants will be given appointment letters.

This was revealed at a press conference held at the Janata Bhawan in Dispur. According to the chief minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also be in Guwahati to join the occasion.

The Assam government had promised jobs to 45,000 people, but when they were re-examined, some of the specially-abled candidates failed the medical examination. This is why their findings are being concealed.

The chief minister discussed the recruitment process, noting the numerous departments and posts that needed to be filled in. Of the total number of candidates that took the exam, 11,048 would be hired for Class 3 employment.

In the Assam Police recruitment procedure, 1,279 people had been selected with 553 chosen for radio operator posts and 39 for fireman duties.

The Home Guards department would get 307 new members, followed by the jail department (301), and the excise department (222). Furthermore, 2,720 people would be handed appointment letters in the forest battalions.

CM Sarma further pointed out the government's commitment to the families of the 231 martyred Assam Police personnel, who will be given job chances. Furthermore, 359 people who were previously rejected for employment with the police department have now been appointed.

There would be 5,281 freshers hired in the health department and 704 in the education department. There would be 421 assistant professors in colleges and 2,332 secondary teachers among them.

Notably, all elementary teacher jobs would be filled by the Assamese citizens.

"With the appointment of 44,703 candidates on May 25, recruitment to 88,000 posts will be completed, bringing the total number of government jobs to 1 lakh." And, because there is overlap in many locations, we have decided to issue advertisements for 22,000 positions in several departments in July of this year," the CM stated.

In addition, the Directorate of Soil Conservation would appoint 14 people, and additional recruitment lists would be issued as long as the cut-off marks remained unchanged. These extra lists would have 198 and 637 positions in grades 3 and 4, respectively. The total number of additional posts would be 22,565, with 2,000 more in the police department and 600 in the health department. Class 3 and Class 4 positions would witness an increase of 2,519 and 1,347 recruits, respectively.

Furthermore, 1,000 new positions would be created in the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, and 10,219 new positions would be created in the Education Department. Sarma emphasised that applicants must have an identity card and report to their assigned locations by June 15. Failure to do so would be interpreted as a refusal to accept the position.
