Digital Desk: Assam Police's CID division has continued to make arrests and question suspects in the HSLC exam paper leak case.
This comes after state education minister Ranoj Pegu faced harsh criticism from the opposition following the leak of the General Science question paper for the ongoing High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Class 10 examination, which resulted in the Board of Secondary Education, Assam cancelling and rescheduling the paper.
Soon after, the case was turned over to Assam Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a full inquiry. So far, the CID has made multiple arrests in connection with the HSLC paper leak scandal and is questioning the accused.
Reportedly, six people have been arrested in Gogamukh, Assam's Dhemaji district, for their alleged role in the HSLC paper leak case, while nine pupils from Dibrugarh's Salt Brook Academy have been taken into custody and transported to Guwahati for questioning.
Also, the CID has arrested and detained a teacher and a fourth-grade employee from Dhemaji. Meanwhile, six students from Tinsukia and two students from Gogamukh have been taken to Guwahati and will be questioned about the HSLC question paper leak.
Also, the investigating authorities have identified Jyotirekha Borgohain, a teacher and the Controller of Exams at Bhauri Devi Sarawgi High School in Guwahati, as the primary suspect in the HSLC paper leak case.
Furthermore, Herambo Kumar Das and Chittaranjan Rai, who was arrested alongside Jyotirekha Borgohain, are considered significant suspects in the case by the CID. The trio was remanded in police detention for three days on Tuesday, and the CID continued to question them about their alleged role in the HSLC question paper leak event.
Authorities detained another youngster from Brahmaputra Valley Academy in Pani Gaon, Assam's Lakhimpur, as the enquiry resumed. He was brought to Guwahati by the CID along with five others from Lakhimpur for their involvement in the HSLC paper leak case.
Earlier in the day, the Chariduar Police in Assam's Sonitpur district apprehended a guy in Tezpur's Borghat following the instruction of the CID.
