Moran: Assam Gaurav Award winner Hemoprabha Chutia from Moran, Dibrugarh, weaved the Bhagavad Gita on cloth in English. The fabric crafted with the writings of the holy script was inaugurated today by Satradhikar ShriShri Pitambar Debo Goswami here.
Previously, Hemoprabha has weaved the Bhagavad Gita on cloth in Sanskrit, a 700 verse Hindu scripture in Sanskrit that is part of the Hindu epic Mahabharata. She has achieved the noble endeavor as per traditional rituals.
This English translation of Bhagavad Gita on cloth is her fourth such work. The holy scripted cloth measures around 280 feet long and two feet wide. It took her almost three years to complete this elegant piece of art.

From 2013-2018, Hemoprabha has written three well-known holy books, including Gunamala, Naam Ghosa, Mod Bhagavad-Gita Mod. In 2016, she made Vaishnavite scripture of ‘Naam Ghosa,’ which Madhabdev in Assamese about 1568-1596.
The newly inaugurated English version of Bhagavad Gita on cloth was first started in 2018. Hemoprabha completed her work in September 2021.
Hemoprabha has earlier received several honors and recognization for her expertise in weaving. Earlier, she received the ‘Bakul Bon award,’ ‘Aai Kanaklata award’ and State Government’s ‘Hand-loom and textile award’ for her excellence towards weaving. Recently, the Assam government has awarded her Assam Gaurav Award for her excellence in weaving.
