Digital Desk: According to police officials, three persons were detained with heroin worth Rs 6-7 crore in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Thursday.

The defendants were captured in two different police operations.

"In two separate raids in the Karbi Anglong district today, police confiscated 1.304 kg of heroin worth Rs 6-7 crore and nabbed three people," said John Das, SDPO, Bokajan.

An individual familiar with the situation said that in the first operation, Karbi Anglong district police seized 304 grams of heroin in the Laharijan area and captured one person.

Fayas Uddin (18), a Doboka native, was identified as the suspect. According to John Das, SDPO of Bokajan, a checkpoint was put up in front of Laharijan police point by In-charge Laharijan PP ASI Jiten Gogoi, SI (P) Sarat Kakati, C20 CRPF Camp Bokajan, and PP employees based on secret intelligence.

"After a thorough search, security personnel intercepted a car bearing registration number AS-02CC-2548 and confiscated 25 soap cases containing 304 grams of heroin," Das added.

"The drugs were recovered under the observation of SDPO Bokajan and Officer-in-Charge, Bokajan," Das added.

"An anti-drug operation was carried out outside the Diphu railway station in the second operation," the officer stated.

"Police found 1 kg of heroin and nabbed two people identified as Chandra Sekhar Sen (45) and Dhiraj Solanki (30), both of whom live in Jhalawar, Rajasthan," the source added.

"The estimated market value of the medicines seized in both raids is around Rs 6-7 crore," Das stated.

According to an official, the operation was conducted out by SDPO Bokajan and Deputy SP (HQ), with assistance from the Officer-in-Charge of Diphu police station.
