Mishra, who is currently the Superintendent of Police for Assam's Lakhimpur district, will be leading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into violent instances in Manipur.
Digital Desk: Assam cadre IPS officer Anand Mishra has been transferred and appointed as the team leader of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), tasked with investigating violent incidents in war-torn Manipur.
Mishra, who is currently the Superintendent of Police for Assam's Lakhimpur district, will be leading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into violent instances in Manipur. Sources claim that Mishra was appointed SIT chief in accordance with Supreme Court orders. Randip Kumar Barua, an Assam Police Service employee, has also been added to the SIT. In light of this, Mishra and Barua are being sent to Manipur right now.
Mishra has been one of the Assam Police's most recognisable faces, which is noteworthy. He was appointed as the SP of Nagaon before coming to Lakhimpur. His time in Nagaon was clouded by controversy as he was sent there following a shooting incident in which student leader Kirti Kamal Bora was tragically shot by local police when they were conducting an anti-drug operation.
