Digital Desk: In a shocking disclosure, it came to light that the principal accused in the Guwahati child abuse case, Dr. Sangeeta Datta, had mislead the police by claiming that a woman handed over the victims to her when she was receiving treatment at Dispur Polyclinic and Nursing Home.

The authorities at the Dispur Polyclinic IVF centre confirmed that, apart from the IVF treatment, none of what she asserted in police custody was true.

The authorities stated that she came for IVF treatment in 2019, but she left before the IVF procedure was completed.

"In the year 2019, Dr. Sangeeta Datta and her husband Dr. Waliul Islam came here for IVF treatment, but they did continue the treatment here," the IVF Centre's counselor said.

In response to Dr. Sangeeta's statement that the victim was handed over to her at the polyclinic, he refuted the charges, saying, "Nothing of this kind has happened in this polyclinic."

After being arrested, Dr. Sangeeta Datta admitted to police on Sunday that the victims were not her children and that she had no idea who their parents were.

"When my surrogacy treatment did not work a woman at Dispur Polyclinic handed the children over to me. I have no idea who their parents are or where they came from," Dr Datta said.
