Digital Desk: In a significant development, Chandmari Police conducted an operation at the residence of the deceased Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kisan Morcha Secretary, Indrani Tahbildar, where the prime suspect in the suicide case, Anurag Chaliha, was staying as a tenant. The operation took place in Guwahati's Bamunimaidam area on Tuesday.

Anurag Chaliha, who has been identified as the primary suspect in the suicide of BJP leader Indrani Tahbildar, was taken by the police to her residence to aid in the search for crucial evidence in the ongoing case. Sources close to the investigation revealed that during the raid, the police made a startling discovery - evidence linked to a cash-for-job scam along with information about individuals who allegedly exchanged money for government job positions.

The case took a dark turn when it was revealed that Indrani Tahbildar had resorted to suicide after intimate photos of her with Anurag Chaliha were leaked. Chaliha had reportedly gone into hiding following the incident but was eventually apprehended on August 14 from Sivasagar's Demow. He was subsequently placed in police custody for a seven-day period.

Continuing their pursuit of leads, the Chandmari Police have been actively interrogating various BJP leaders associated with the incident. Sanjiv Sharma and Kapil Talukdar, both executive-level members of the party, were questioned on Monday. In a further development, Mriganka Barman, a former general secretary and president of the BJP state unit's Yuva Morcha, was sought by the police for questioning regarding the death of Indrani Tahbildar.

Mriganka Barman has played a prominent role within the BJP's Assam unit and has now come under scrutiny due to his association with the deceased BJP leader. Furthermore, another BJP state executive member, Pranab Jyoti Lahkar, who currently holds the position of Vice-Chairman of the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), has also been summoned to appear before the investigating team.

The revelation of a potential cash-for-job scam within the investigation adds a new layer of complexity to an already tragic incident. As the police delve deeper into the matter, the case's intricacies are likely to unravel further, potentially revealing more individuals involved in the scandal and shedding light on the circumstances surrounding Indrani Tahbildar's untimely demise.

The authorities remain committed to a thorough and impartial investigation, aiming to uncover the truth behind the alleged cash-for-job scheme and the events that led to the devastating loss of Indrani Tahbildar. The implications of this case could have far-reaching consequences, not only for those directly involved but also for the political landscape in the region.
