Digital Desk: The 4 Corps Army golf course (GTA, Solmara) in Tezpur is preparing to host the second Inter-Club Golf Tournament: the BORBHAG Cup of the North Eastern Region, which is being organised by the BORBHAG Foundation. The goal of this Cup is to increase the sport's popularity among the region's youth, as golf has now become an Olympic event.
It is worth noting that 4Corps (GTA Solmara) - the army - is opening up their Golf Course for the first time for a civilian Golf event.
"The BORBHAG Cup was founded with the vision of contributing to empowering communities through the platform of golf," says Anirudh Goswami, Founder of The BORBHAG Group. We intend to expand from here. We continue to advance our vision of linking the globe to the districts of India and the districts to the globe, paying special attention to states in North East India and generating possibilities for young."
"The competition is an endeavour by a devoted group of golfers in their continuous desire to popularise the game in North East India," he added. With the goal of "blending legacy with the modern world, enhancing and promoting existing infrastructure, reinforcing our traditions, and developing community."
The inaugural tournament, held in 2021 and initially envisioned with clubs from Assam, saw participation from four states in the region. It was held on January 3, 2021, at Misa Polo Club in Assam, with more than 88 golfers from seven teams competing. Guwahati Railway, Guwahati Repta, ONGC Golf Club Nazira, Dimapur Club, Tezpur GTA Club, Jorhat Gymkhana Club, and Misa Polo Club were among them.
