Intoxicated police officers would lose their jobs, according to the Assam DGP

     Digital
Desk: Police officers in Assam risk losing their jobs if they are discovered
drinking while on duty, according to state DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta.

    According
to him, new regulations will be put in place to curb the misconduct of any
police officers who do not work honestly.

    Mahanta added
that the state administration has been striving to swiftly address a number of
issues that the police are now experiencing. It covers things like a lack of
housing and infrastructure. He said, "As soon as the chief minister
learned of the need, he quickly set up the allocation of funding for the
construction of 1,000 police houses. Additionally, a thorough discussion on a
number of topics, including battling cybercrime and striving to improve
people's lives, etc., took place with him.

    Police
should be approachable, according to the senior cop. Police officers should
instead visit people's homes to deliver services, he suggested, rather than
summoning them to the police station for minor offences.

    The
Assam DGP continued, "Police should also act in synchronisation with this
decision. We have decided to scrap little cases in Assam to lessen the pressure
    on the judiciary.

Mahanta praised the Chief Minister for
taking an interest in the difficulties the police force was having. He gave the
assurance that the police will work tirelessly to advance the state.
