    The Kamrup metropolitan district administration
has issued two phone numbers through which Guwahati residents can send
information on broken roads, open pits, and dugouts that need to be repaired.

color:black">This comes after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed
deputy commissioners, particularly those in Dibrugarh and Kamrup Metro
districts, on Sunday after two major road accidents were reported recently.

the official handle of Kamrup Metro District Administration stated on Twitter.
Citizens of Guwahati are encouraged to contribute information about broken
roads, open pits, and dugouts that require repair and restoration."

     It should be noted that
earlier in the day, during a video conference with all the DCs, Assam CM Sarma
instructed them to take strong action against the contractors or anyone engaged
in leaving the dug-up potholes uncovered and unattended, creating
    inconvenience to the public.

color:black">"Someone has to take responsibility; there was a loss of
life, a person died; why wasn't the contractor arrested?" the chief
minister asked Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu.

CM Sarma has asked all DCs to repair all dug-up pits across all
districts by Monday. "If there is any ongoing work in the dug-up pits,
there should be proper barricading with bamboo and a red flag, otherwise start
restoration work immediately on priority," the chief minister added.

CM Sarma questioned the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro District
Administration, Pallav Gopal Jha, regarding the dug-up pits for ongoing work on
two drainage systems near Guwahati's Ulubari neighbourhood.

"If there is a heavy downpour overnight, the road near Ulubari will
flood." How will people notice that there is a hole? Or is there a
drainage project happening on? At the very least, the administrator of the
Kamrup Metro should have demonstrated some sensitivity by completing the
assignment before the flood at any point in time. If not, the work should have
been done with suitable barricades," CM Sarma remarked.

The chief minister also chastised a PWD department employee (Kamrup
Metro District) at the meeting for failing to complete drainage
work for several years despite repeated orders.

"A few days ago, a road accident
occurred in Guwahati due to a pothole in the middle of the road; the day
before, a similar incident occurred in Dibrugarh; and tomorrow, another such
incident will occur in some other part of the state." "Do we have to
wait for an incident to happen before we react?" the chief minister asked
    the PWD official.
