Kokrajhar: A team of Directorate Vigilance and Anti Corruption department arrested Superintendent of Excise, Kokrajhar district, Himanjyoti Bora, for allegedly taking a bribe from a wine supplier on Friday evening.
Reportedly, a 14 member team led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Karuna Bordoloi, caught Bora red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from the wine supplier.
Following a special input, the anti-corruption department laid a trap at around 5.15 pm after which Bora was arrested from his rented house.
A case has been registered in the anti-corruption bureau police station vide ACB PS case no 08/2021U/S (a) of PC Act against Himanjyoti Bora, said police.
In another case of bribery, a team led by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, arrested a clerk of Lanka High School, Hojai.
A team of 14 members, of the anti-corruption bureau, caught Bikash Rai red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a retired teacher in the school premises.
The report said that Rai took the bribe from Kamal Bora, who retired on July 31 this year.
Rai allegedly demanded Rs 89,000 from the retired teacher for his pension-related work, sources said.
