Digital Desk: On Thursday, a tourism promotion conference was held at the Guwahati Airport, hosted by
Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), which focused on numerous prospects and opportunities for the region's tourism business.
Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, officials of AAHL, airline services, dignitaries from northeastern state tourist agencies, and airport authorities from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport attended the seminar.
Mr Mallabaruah, speaking at the conference, stated that air transport not only allows millions of people to engage in cultural exchange but also helps the tourist industry, which is a major rising economic driver in Assam. "It is a matter of sheer pride that Guwahati has emerged as the country's 10th busiest airport, and it has enormous potential to grow even more in terms of capacity," Mr Mallabaruah, who launched the seminar, said on Twitter.
The minister went on to say that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has started numerous steps to establish non-stop and direct foreign connections at Guwahati Airport to increase tourist arrivals in the state.
Meanwhile, Sher Khan, Deputy CEO of AAHL, highlighted the airport's road map to transform it into a more sophisticated and developed site in the future days, transforming it into a regional hub.
Earlier, Utpal Baruah, Chief Airport Officer, Adani Guwahati International Airport Limited, stated in his inaugural speech that the Adani firm is aiming to build the airport into an economic centre and that the firm is committed to promoting the tourism industry in the region.
Reportedly, during the winter session, the LGBI Airport in Guwahati had an approximately 39% boost in visitation.
The Adani Group-controlled airport official said in a statement that almost 14 lakhs of the total 28 lakh visitors were departure passengers and the balance were arrival visitors.
