Digital Desk: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday (November 17) that Lachit Divas will be celebrated for three days from November 23-25 in New Delhi. 

At Assam Bhawan in New Delhi, CM Sarma held a review meeting on Lachit Divas.

On November 23, the 400th Birth Anniversary of the great warrior of the Ahom Dynasty Bir Lachit Borphukan will be held with a grand program and an exhibition on the 600-year-old history of the Ahom dynasty at Vigyan Bhawan.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate the Ahom history exhibition. Moreover, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju will inaugurate a cultural program on November 23.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the event on November 24, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend on November 25.

Additionally, a documentary based on the life of the great warrior will be released along with a book on Bir Lachit Borphukan.

CM Sarma also asked the people to light earthen lamps to pay tribute to Bir Lachit Borphukan on November 24.

Further, CM Sarma stated that in the future, Lachit Divas will be celebrated in different places across the country.

Meanwhile, the incorporation of Bir Lachit in the NCERT curriculum is being discussed.
