Borah's anticipatory bail plea in relation to the case was denied by the Gauhati High Court in May.
Digital Desk: The residence of ACS officer Sukanya Borah, who was suspended due to her involvement in the MPLAD scams in Assam, was raided by the Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell on Tuesday, according to official sources.
Notably, Sukanya Borah, the Kamrup Metro Additional District Commissioner (ADC), was suspended in March of this year due to suspected irregularities in the way that projects funded by the Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) budget were carried out.
Borah's anticipatory bail plea in relation to the case was denied by the Gauhati High Court in May.
Sources claim that money was taken out of Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan's MPLAD budget to build a road in Barpeta, Assam. However, the bill was published before 75% of the work was finished. The four suspended officials signed the bill before 75% of the road construction work was finished, which led to the inquiry by the CM's Special Vigilance unit, which revealed the scam.
Ranee Narah, former Union minister of state from Assam was called in by the probe panel in September due to her involvement in an MP money scandal. She is suspected of embezzling money that was given to Jorhat for the installation of hand pumps. Under questioning today, Ranee Narah provided shocking details regarding the fraud to the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell's investigative officer.
