    Majuli: No salaries for the last 3 months, employees Of Ropax Ferry stage protest

    Majuli: Angered and disappointed over non-payment of salaries over three months, the employees of Majuli Ropax ferry service, staged protest against the establishment. Trouble continues to obliterate in Majuli after the sudden closure of the Ropax ferry services on Saturday morning.





    People were left bewildered and shocked after the transport services were halted on the Afolamukh ferry ghat.





    The halt in the ferry services comes after a protest staged by the eleven drivers of the ferry services, hired by the Assam government, waiting to received their pending salaries for the last three months.

    The 11 protesting drivers were hired by the state government from the Dolphin Company assuring good salaries but has not been successful in making payments to the employees for the last three months.





    As per the contract, the Dolphin Company should pay the salary on time but it has not paid the employees the salary that they need to.





    After the request of the passengers, the employees have decided to sail the ferries for more than three days.





    The employees have blamed the government and the Majuli district administration for showing a blind eye towards the troubles faced by them. The pending salary issue of the drivers has been a long standing trouble who upon time-to-time demanding a final call to the situation.





    People are facing trouble post the halt of the transport services.
