Digital Desk: The Mangaldai Municipal Board has achieved national recognition for its exemplary performance among Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the Town Category, as announced during the PRAISE Awards (Performance Recognition for Access to Financial Inclusion and Street Vendor’s Empowerment). The Board was lauded for its outstanding loan management under the Prime Minister’s Street Vendor Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme.
This accolade places Mangaldai Municipal Board among the top ULBs in India, alongside 21 others in the Town Category, 22 in the Major City category, and 7 in the Mega and Million-plus City Category. The Board is one of two from Assam to be honored, with the Guwahati Municipal Corporation also receiving recognition in the Major City category.
Furthermore, Mangaldai Municipal Board emerged as the leading ULB in Assam within the Town Category for its exceptional loan performance under the PM SVANidhi scheme.
The PRAISE Awards, presented on the PM SVANidhi Portal, highlight ULBs' achievements in financial inclusion and empowerment of street vendors. Assam's success in the Hilly and North Eastern States category and its second place in Innovation and Best Practices further underscore its commitment to excellence in urban governance.
