    Manipur Polls 2022: PM to visit Manipur for the poll campaign on February 22
    Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in poll-bound Manipur on February 22 to campaign for BJP candidates in the upcoming 12th Manipur Polls 2022, according to party officials.

    During his visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak at an election rally in the Imphal East district's Luwangsangbam sports complex, close to the residence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

    On Friday, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra presided over a gathering of BJP leaders, including the party's election candidates ahead of Manipur Polls 2022.

    Nitin Gadkari, the union minister for road transport and highways, and Sarbananda Sonowal, the union minister for ports, shipping, and waterways, are also likely to arrive on Saturday, according to BJP Manipur leaders, to participate in the ongoing poll campaigns in various districts of the state.

    Biplap Kumar Deb, the Tripura chief minister, and Smriti Irani, the Union minister for women and child development, are currently campaigning for BJP candidates in the Imphal West, Senapati, and Jiribam districts.

    Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi will also arrive on February 21 to participate in the party's ongoing election campaign ahead of Manipur Polls 2022. During his visit, Rahul Gandhi will address an electoral rally at Hafta Kangjeibung ground at Palace Gate in Imphal.

    Rahul Gandhi's campaign in Manipur is being led by Manipur Congress president N Loken Singh and Congress legislature party leader and former chief minister O Ibobi Singh.

    Congress senior observer (Manipur) Jairam Ramesh, Congress in charge of Manipur Bhakta Charan Das, and other party officials are currently camping in the state for electioneering purposes.

    On February 28 and March 5, 265 candidates, including 17 women, will run in the two-phase Manipur assembly elections to elect 60 members. The results of the election will be announced on March 10.
