Digital Desk: A seventh suspect has been arrested in relation to the horrifying video that showed two women being paraded naked by a mob in Manipur. Police arrested the culprit from Thoubal district on Monday.

The two women's video has drawn strong criticism from all over the world. According to a tribal organization in Manipur, the two women were gang-raped in a field.

The incident allegedly took place on May 4 in the Kangpokpi district, 35 kilometers from Imphal, the state capital, reported by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF). Despite the First Information Report (FIR) being submitted in Kangpokpi, the police insist that the incident took place in a different area.

The day after the 26-second video of the incident became viral, officials made their first arrest on July 20. Later that day, three additional arrests were made.

According to the police, the sixth individual taken into custody is a minor, while the fifth accused who was taken into custody on Saturday is a 19-year-old.

The horrific incident occurred a day after violence broke out in Manipur between the Kuki and Meitei tribes over the Meitei's demand for Scheduled Tribes (ST) status. Over 120 people have lost their lives and others have been homeless as a result of the violence in the northeastern state.
