    Digital Desk: On Independence Day, four Assam police officers will get the Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation for their extraordinary talents and services while on duty.

    Barun Purkayastha, Superintendent of Police in Hojai, Mrinmoy Das, Sub-Divisional Police Officer in Kaliabor, Rosy Talukdar, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Hojai, and Narayan Saikia, Sub-Inspector in Dima Hasao district are the four to get the honour.

    The renowned medal will be presented to 151 police officers across India. There are 28 female police officers among those to be honoured.

    To honour police officers that succeed at conducting investigations, the medal was set up in 2018 and for the selection of those heroes, a group of top police officers chooses the award recipients.

    The four Assam police officers who received the medal have made important advancements in the field of investigation and they also have successfully concluded several high-profile cases and prosecuted the offenders.
