    Digital Desk: Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma, cast his vote on Monday at the Walbakgre voting station in the South Tura constituency.

    Addressing the media, the NPP head claimed that the National People's Party (NPP) will do well in the Assembly elections.

    Voting is presently underway at 3,419 polling sites across the state's 59 Assembly constituencies and will continue until 4 PM.

    Almost 2,160,000 persons are eligible to vote. There are 640 "vulnerable" polling booths and 323 "critical" polling booths. There are 369 candidates in total, with 36 of them being women.


    Meghalaya has 60 Assembly constituencies, 36 of which are in the Khasi, Jaintia Hills region, and 24 in the Garo Hills region.

    It should also be mentioned that voting for the Sohiong Assembly constituency has been postponed due to the death of the state's former Home Minister and UDP candidate for the seat, HDR Lyngdoh.

    Following the election, the Election Commission of India deployed 119 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies throughout Meghalaya.

    Meanwhile, voter participation in Meghalaya was 26.7% as of 11 A.M.
