Meghalaya govt to terminate services of employees aged above 70

The decision was made in response to resistance from civil society organisations to the continuation of officers' and bureaucrats' services beyond retirement.

Digital Desk: The government of Meghalaya issued a directive to its departments, corporations, and agencies to terminate the employment of anyone over the age of 70.

The decision was made in response to resistance from civil society organisations to the continuation of officers' and bureaucrats' services beyond retirement.

Chief Secretary DP Wahlang issued the order, which said that "persons over the age of 70 shall not be employed or reemployed in the state government."

"This is to ensure that the uniform cut-off age is followed in cases of employment or reemployment in government departments, societies, or corporations," the speaker stated.
