Rabha's mother was seen attending to legal procedures concerning the two cases at Jakhlabandha police station numbers 84/23 and 87/23.
Digital Desk: The late Assam SI Junmoni Rabha's mother, Sumitra Rabha, submitted application to withdraw her case from the Jakhlabandha police station, citing her incapacity to prosecute case number 87/23, indicating a major turn in the case.
However, the absence of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) led the court to reject this application.
Rabha's mother was seen attending to legal procedures concerning the two cases at Jakhlabandha police station numbers 84/23 and 87/23.
SI Junmoni Rabha died on May 16, 2023. Soon after her death questions like was her death a murder? or a suicide? or an accident? arises in the minds of the people of Assam. After the incident occurred, the CBI first came out in search of an answer to this question from the CID and CID of Assam Police.
Junmoni Rabha was a skilled police officer of Assam Police and she was also known as 'Lady Singham'. Her death could not be taken lightly by the people. This led to a strong public reaction on social media demanding to solve the mystery of Junmoni Rabha's death. Given the urgency of public demand, the Assam government was also forced to hand over the responsibility for the incident to the CBI.
The CBI had taken the probe into the death of Rabha from the CID. Ever since the CBI took up the investigation process in the entire case, it was virtually certain that the true story of the Junmoni case would come to light.
On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the mystery of the death of the SI was revealed. The CBI submitted its final report in the Nagaon sessions judge's court in connection with the death of Rabha. According to the final report filed by the CBI, Junmoni died in the accident. This was not a case of unnatural or mysterious death.
The people of Assam were disappointed by the final report given by the CBI that Junmoni died in a road accident. A section of the people of Assam have expressed their anger that the CBI has also been sold. The case still remains a mystery.
It is to be noted that despite being an SI of Assam Police, not a single police officer reached Rabha's home to take stock of the matter. Despite being the home of Junmoni Rabha in Guwahati, which is surrounded by ministers and bureaucrats, no minister or top-level bureaucrat visited her house.
No one even offered their condolences to Junmoni's mother and brother. Her brother also couldn't survive the grief of her sister's mysterious death and died a few days later. Her mother Sumitra Rabha was completely shattered losing her both children in such a short period.
Though the CBI had submitted their report on Junmoni's incident, her family and his well-wishers could not be convinced about the report. Her mother had expressed her anguish that she was not satisfied with the CBI's probe process soon after the CBI report came out.
From the very beginning, Rabha's mother had been claiming that it was not an accident but a murder. In Junmoni's death, the mother had repeatedly named the then Superintendent of Police of Nagaon Leena Doley. She had also lodged an FIR against Leena Doley. The names of police officers like Leena Doley, Abhajyoti Rabha, Manoj Rajbongshi, etc. were named in this case.
Not satisfied with the CBI report, the mother filed two cases seeking justice for Junmoni's death.
However, giving shock waves to everyone, Junmoni Rabha's mother Sumitra Rabha arrived at the judicial court in Kaliabor on Thursday to withdraw her case in the matter.
Surprisingly, she petitioned for the withdrawal of two cases due to personal issues. Junmoni's mother has submitted an application at the Kaliabor court to withdraw the two cases. She was accompanied by a CBI official.
Sumitra Rabha's move to withdraw the cases has raised several questions in the minds of the people of Assam. Has anyone forced Junmoni's mother to withdraw the case? Is it her personal choice? And many more.
This further takes the case of Junmoni Rabha's death in a significant mystery.
