Digital Desk: Assamese music director Ramen Baruah's sudden disappearance has led to a thorough investigation by Guwahati Police, marking a surprising development. Addressing the media on Wednesday, Police Commissioner Diganta Barah disclosed key details from the initial inquiry into Baruah's whereabouts.
Baruah was last seen near the Brahmaputra River banks, close to Gauhati High Court, around 10:09 am on Monday. Commissioner Barah confirmed that Baruah left his residence wilingly and was last traced to the riverbank. The investigation has unveiled personal and family related challenges affecting Baruah, potentially influencing his emotional state at the time of disappearance.
Commissioner Barah remarked, "There is no indication of any outsider being involved in this incident. Baruah was grappling with personal and family issues. There's a hypothesis that he may have been agitated and emotionally distressed. We have no evidence suggesting he left the riverbank after arrival, leading us to suspect he may have fallen into the water."
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been mobilized for extensive search operations in the Brahmaputra River, suspecting Baruah might have fallen into the water. Additionally, Baruah's mobile phone was switched off at 10:09 pm the same day, compounding concerns.
Police have engaged Baruah's daughter in the investigation, considering familial dissatisfaction as a potential factor in his disappearance. Renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, along with Latasil police, actively participated in search efforts covering key locales like Lachit Ghat, Kamakhya Temple, Shukreshwar Devalaya, Bhootnath Temple, and Uzan Bazar Ghat, yet Baruah remains missing.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed concern and directed Commissioner Barah to deploy all possible resources for Baruah's search. As efforts persist, Commissioner Diganta Barah maintains hope for Baruah's safe return.
