Assam: One More accused arrested involved in BJP Leader Jonali Nath's Murder Case
Sources informed that the duo assassinated the BJP leader in a pre-planned scheme...

Digital Desk: Assam Police have made another arrest in connection with the death of BJP leader Jonali Nath. Ajibur Rahman, the arrested person, was nabbed in Matia, Goalpara district.

As per authorities, Rahman was arrested when the principal culprit in the case, Hasnur Islam, admitted to his role in the murder during interrogation.

According to sources, the BJP leader was assassinated by the two in a pre-planned scheme.

Reports revealed that Hasnur, who owns a clothing store in Goalpara, was apprehended earlier this week in Matia Bazar. Following his arrest, Assam Police Crime Investigation Department (CID) spoke at a press conference, revealing that Hasnur and now-deceased BJP leader Jonali Nath had been having an illicit connection for the previous two years.

The CID's claim, however, did not sit well with the deceased BJP leader's family. Disappointed with the probe and subsequent revelations, Jonali Nath's husband, Chandra Kumar Nath, filed an FIR against the IGP for his remarks at the press conference.

In a news conference, IGP Assam CID Debraj Upadhyaya stated, "The accused has confessed that he killed the woman and dumped her body on the National Highway on Sunday night. The victim had an unlawful relationship with the accused for the past two years and was about to marry another lady. The victim had expressed her willingness to meet with him once to discuss their relationship. As a result, he visited her, and they met inside a car. Following a heated disagreement between the two, the accused hit her roughly on the neck, then grabbed her with his own hands and strangled her to death. The forensic doctors have confirmed this."

The accused eliminated her body near a national highway after discovering she was bleeding and unresponsive, according to a CID official.

Although it was first discovered that just Hasnur was implicated in the murder, the CID was continuing their investigation.

Jonali Nath's lifeless body was discovered earlier this week on National Highway No. 17 near Shalpara, Krishnai.

Sources said at the time that miscreants murdered her and dumped her body on the national highway before fleeing the scene. Locals discovered the body on Sunday night and reported it to authorities.

Several injuries emerged on her body, indicating that she had been brutally attacked before her death. It's been informed that locals last saw Nath at a market in the late afternoon before her death.
