    PM Narendra Modi to dedicate Rs 7,280 crore railway projects during his Assam visit: Assam CM

    Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Assam on Friday for the "Rongali Bihu" celebrations, during which he will dedicate Rs 14,300 crore in development projects to the northeastern state.


    During the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would dedicate railway projects worth Rs 7,280 crore, leading to the construction of 700 kilometres of train infrastructure to promote accessibility in the Northeast, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday.


    In addition, the PM  will dedicate three additional medical institutes in Assam to the nation and will also formally inaugurate the Rs. 1,123 crore AIIMS in Guwahati. As per the PIB reports, the PM would arrive at AIIMS Guwahati at around 12 p.m. to see the newly constructed campus.


    He will also lay the foundation stone of the Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, and launch the "Aapke Dwar Ayushman" campaign by distributing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to beneficiaries who are eligible.


    In the evening, PM Modi is scheduled to arrive at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati to preside over a public event where he will see a colourful Bihu programme performed by over 10,000 performers. The 'Bihu' dancers and drummers will try to enter the Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance in the world in a single place. According to a press release released by PIB, it will showcase artists from all 31 districts in the state.


    During the programme, he will also dedicate to the nation several development projects, including the commissioning of a 500 TPD Menthol Plant in Namrup, the laying of the foundation stone for a bridge on the Brahmaputra River connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi, the laying of the foundation stone for the beautification of Rang Ghar in Sivasagar, and the dedication of five railway projects to the nation. The railway projects being launched include the Digaru-Lumding segment, the Gauripur-Abhayapuri section, the doubling of the New Bongaigaon-Dhup Dhara section, the electrification of the Raninagar Jalpaiguri-Guwahati section, the electrification of the Senchoa-Silghat Town section, and the electrification of the Senchoa-Mairabari section.


    The Prime Minister will also attend a programme commemorating the Guwahati High Court's platinum jubilee.
