Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on April 14 to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for development projects worth approximately Rs 14,300 crores. The initiatives will primarily focus on healthcare, infrastructure, and culture, including the inauguration of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati.

PM Modi is expected to land in Assam around noon on Friday. He will inspect the new structure before officially launching it, along with three other medical institutions, during a public event. In the healthcare sector, Modi will also lay the groundwork for the Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute (AAHII) and begin the "Aapke Dwar Ayushman" campaign.

Modi will attend the Guwahati High Court's 70th anniversary platinum jubilee event at 2 p.m. The prime minister will attend a Bihu dance performance in the evening and set the groundwork for numerous infrastructural projects.

One of the major highlights of Modi's visit will be the opening of AIIMS Guwahati. On May 26, 2017, the prime minister lay the foundation stone for the institute. It cost more than Rs 1,120 crores to construct.

According to a press release, the hospital is a "state-of-the-art" institution with a capacity of 750 beds, including 30 AYUSH beds. According to the Public Information Bureau, it will give world-class health care to the people of the Northeast.

In addition, the hospital would have a capacity of 100 MBBS students every year.

In addition to AIIMS Guwahati, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate three medical colleges to the nation: Nalbari Medical College, Nagaon Medical College, and Kokrajhar Medical College. They were built at a total cost of Rs 1,750 crores.

Each medical college will have an annual admission capacity of 100 MBBS students, as well as 500-bed teaching hospitals with OPD/IPD services, emergency services, ICU facilities, operating rooms, and diagnostic facilities.

The prime minister will also attend a mega Bihu dance performance with over 11,000 performers at Guwahati's Sarusajai Stadium.  Artists from Assam's 31 districts will be present as the dancers are hoping to establish a new Guinness World Record for the world's largest Bihu dance performance in a single place.
