    Digital Desk: PepsiCo India announced the opening of its first food production factory in Nalbari district, expanding economic potential in Assam.

    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma performed the 'bhumi pujan' for the future PepsiCo facility on Wednesday.

    According to sources, a Rs 770 crore investment has been made for the establishment of the factory, which will create over 450 employment and enhance the lives of over 5000 farmers in the state.

    Adding to information, the factory, which will be stretched across 44.2 acres of land, is expected to be operational in 2025 and will generate both direct and indirect work opportunities.

    Furthermore, numerous senior leaders from the Assam government, Eugene Willemsen, CEO - of Africa, Middle East, and South Asia, PepsiCo, and Ahmed ElSheikh, President, of PepsiCo India, were present.


    Furthermore, PepsiCo struck a three-way agreement with the Assam Skill Development Mission and the Directorate of Employment and Craftsman Training to promote women's empowerment and to provide a safe and supportive work environment to increase women's employability in the region.


    According to insiders, the facility aspires to hire 100 percent varied people and at least 75 percent women.
