Digital Desk: On Wednesday, Indian Youth Congress chief Srinivas B.V. petitioned the Gauhati High Court to dismiss the complaint filed by former Assam Congress leader Angkita Dutta.

Reportedly, Assam Police called Srinivas to appear at the Dispur police station on May 2 in connection with Dutta's harassment charge.

The Assam Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) proceeded to Srinivas' Bengaluru apartment and served him with a summons to appear in person before the police in Guwahati.

Srinivas was warned in the notice not to meddle with the evidence and not to make any threats or promises to anyone who knew the case's details.

Srinivas was additionally requested to participate in the investigation and offer a hand. He has also been tasked with being completely and truly transparent. The Youth Congress leader will be asked to present all pertinent documents as needed.

The notification also said that failure to comply with the requirements of the notice could result in your arrest following sections 41A (3) and (4) of the CrPC.

As the Karnataka election is set for May 10, Congress leaders have questioned the timing of the charge against Srinivas, while the opposition has claimed that Angkita Dutta is collaborating on Himanta Biswa Sarma's "provocation."

The former president of the Assam Youth Congress, Angkita Dutta, reported Srinivas B.V. to the Dispur police station in Assam for making "sexist and chauvinistic" remarks and using offensive words.
