    Pradip Roy slams Sarma with his remarks after arrest

    Guwahati: After facing several slams from different organizations and eight hours of interrogation, police arrested the chief convener of Barak Democratic Front, Pradip Dutta Roy, on Saturday. 





    Pradip Dutta Roy was lambasted for allegedly dishonoring the Assamese language by pasting black ink on a government banner near Silchar Railway Station.





    According to sources, an FIR was filed at the Silchar Sadar Police station with charges against him to disrupt order and peace among communities and hurt sentiments.





    Even after his arrest on Saturday, Roy made aggressive remarks upon Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The BDF leader also alleged that Assam CM Sarma wants to get him killed inside the jail by imposing sedition charges against him.





    Roy has asked for support from the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, alleging that Bengalis in Assam are in crisis.

    Roy said media, "Assam CM wants to kill me inside the jail, hence, he has labelled false charges against me. I urge West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to come here to see the condition of the Bengalis in Assam. We are in danger...the Bengalis in Assam are in danger... please come and help us."





    Roy added, "There was no case against me. They made me sit here for hours. They have also for hours. A fresh case was registered against me, alleging that I am involved in anti-national activities. I appeal the Bengali community to give a reply to this injustice."





    As per sources, Roy will be under police custody till December 10, 2021. Dutta was presented before the court on Saturday night as well.
