    President Droupadi Murmu on 3-day visit of Meghalaya and Assam

    It is to be noted that Murmu will attend the Karbi Youth Festival's golden jubilee celebrations on January 17 at Taralangso, Diphu, Assam.


    Digital Desk: President Droupadi Murmu will travel to Meghalaya and Assam from January 15 to 17, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement released on Sunday.

    According to the statement, the president will open the Meghalaya Games on Monday at Tura's P A Sangma Stadium.

    She has never been to Meghalaya before, after taking up the presidency.

    She is scheduled for an address to self-help group members at Tura's Baljek Airport on January 16 and essentially lay the groundwork for the new Integrated Administration Complex, according to the statement.

    On the same day, President Murmu will address a gathering at Mawphlang and virtually inaugurate upgraded Rongjeng Mangsang Adokgre Road and Mairang Ranigodown Azra Road as well as lay the foundation stones for Shillong Peak Ropeway and tourist accommodations in the villages of Kongthong, Mawlyngot and Kudengrim.

    “In the evening, the president will attend a civic reception to be hosted in her honour by the government of Meghalaya at the Raj Bhavan, Shillong,” it added.
