She further claimed that ECI operated in an undemocratic manner and that it delineated boundaries without consulting anyone.
Digital Desk: Sushmita Dev, a Rajya Sabha member, called for a 10-hour hunger strike on July 10 in protest of the Election Commission of India's (ECI) Delimitation draft.
The TMC leader will join her party members on the 10-hour hunger strike, which will begin at 9 am on July 10.
In a meeting with the media, Dev stated, "We want the Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to hear from the residents of Barak Valley and write to the ECI about it."
Sarma is not the chief minister of any particular party or area, she continued, adding that "People in Barak Valley also voted for him and it is his duty to listen to voices of commons living in Barak Valley."
Regarding ECI's refusal to meet with the delegation of 11 political parties, Dev stated that it was their obligation to set aside five minutes for these leaders, who are MPs and MLAs.
"It was the EC's responsibility to hear out the delegation, which was made up of MPs, MLAs, and political parties. Why did the Election Commission refuse to allow them to meet for five minutes? The delegation was instructed by ECI to mail the note to them," the MP stated.
She further claimed that ECI operated in an undemocratic manner and that it delineated boundaries without consulting anyone.
There is no reluctance in stating that ECI is operating under the influence of one party, she continued.
