Digital Desk: This year's Republic Day tableau in Assam will depict famed Ahom General Lachit Borphukan, as well as the most respected and also one of the oldest of India's 51 shaktipeethas, Kamakhya Temple.
The tableau will highlight the bravery of Ahom commander, recognised for his leadership in the 1671 Battle of Saraighat, which prevented Mughal forces from taking Assam. The government celebrated the 400th birth anniversary of the Ahom General last year.
Reportedly, this year's theme is mainly 'Nari Shakti,' combined with cultural heritage and other topics, thus the Kamakhya temple, which honours the Bleeding Goddess and divine female power, will also be featured in the tableau. This will be Rajpath's first Republic Day celebration after it was renamed 'Kartavya Path' last year.
According to Defense Ministry officials, the ceremonial parade would include 23 tableaux—17 from states and union territories and six from other ministries and departments—depicting India's distinct cultural past, economic prosperity, and social advancement.
