Reward on giving information about the accused former OC Biman Roy: Tweets DGP

The senior officer stated that anyone giving information regarding his whereabouts to SP Nalbari Police would be properly rewarded...

Digital Desk: Assam Director General of Police GP Singh informed on Thursday that the key suspect in the Ghograpar Police Station incident in Nalbari, Inspector (now suspended) Biman Roy, remains unknown.

Taking to Twitter, the top cop stated that anyone with knowledge about his location should contact SP Nalbari Police.

Earlier today, DGP GP Singh assured that if the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ghograpar Police Station in Nalbari is proven guilty in the First Information Report (FIR) made by a kid, he will face legal punishment.

This comes just a day after the victim filed an FIR against the officer, accusing him of taking naked photos and embarrassing himself in front of other police officers inside the lock-up.

After learning about the incident, the DGP directed DIG CWR Brajenjit Singha to visit the police station and submit the first-hand report today.

DGP Singh stated that action will be taken based on the police station's CCTV footage and that if the accused is proven guilty, rigorous legal action will be taken against them.

He also recommended the matter to a Nalbari district Additional Superintendent of Police (SP).

Notably, a minor girl filed a complaint at the police station against the officer, accusing him of taking indecent photos of her and embarrassing her in front of other officers within the lock-up.

The incident allegedly took place on the night of June 26, according to the FIR. The unfortunate girl was said to have eloped with her lover on June 21; however, they were captured by police and taken to Ghagrapar PS. They were both kept in the prison that night.

"The SI forced me to remove my clothes, but I refused. He then threatened me, and I became terrified and stripped naked. SI took a naked picture of me and tried to harass me with an obscene gesture. I informed a female police official about the incident in the morning, but she asked me to keep quiet," the girl wrote in her complaint letter.

Reportedly, the case was filed against the police officer under section 354(b)/509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and R/W section 12/14(1) of the POCSO act (Nalbari police station case number 287/23).
