    Assam's Rima Das nominated as best director for ‘Tora’s Husband’ at Asia Pacific Screen Awards

    Digital Desk: Rima Das, a National Award-winning filmmaker, has been nominated for best director for her film "Tora's Husband" at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) 2023, with "Past Lives" filmmaker Celine Song.


    Darkhan Tulegenov ("Brothers") and Liang Ming ("Carefree Days") have also been nominated in the category.


    Das, known for Assamese films like "Bulbul Can Sing" and "Village Rockstars," is also a member of the 2023 APSA Youth, Animation, Documentary International jury, which is chaired by Midi Z (Taiwan).


    Das notably, said in a statement, "I am honoured to be a member of the prestigious APSA Youth, Animation, Documentary International jury and look forward to seeing the best Asian films." Previously, my film 'Village Rockstars' was nominated for Best Youth Film. "I am overjoyed to be nominated for another award, this time for best director for 'Tora's Husband."


    The film, which stars her real-life brother and sister-in-law, centres around a couple throughout the epidemic and comments on relationships, humanity, and love through their daily lives. It premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.


    "Tora's Husband" is currently playing in Assam theatres as well as major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
