Royal Bengal Tigress Gave Birth to 2 Cubs in Assam State Zoo
Digital Desk: Two Royal Bengal tiger cubs were born at the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden in Guwahati on Monday, bringing the total number of Royal Bengal tiger cubs in the state to nine, said a forest department official.

Dr. Ashwini Kumar of the Assam State DFO-Zoo stated that Tigress Kazi gave birth to two cubs on February 3 and that both the mother and the baby are doing well. Heaters were placed outside their cage and enough dry straw was placed inside to keep them warm during the winter.

Earlier, Kazi had given birth to two cubs named Sultan and Suresh in August 2020. The zoo management has asked Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya to name the newborn cubs.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), Amit Sahai, stated that Tigress Kazi is given a nutritional diet.

He added that with the arrival of the cubs, it is predicted that the zoo would be able to draw more tourists from now onwards.

In the cage, special attention has been made to hygiene and cleanliness to prevent transmission of any diseases to the mother and her cubs, said a forest department official.
