The decision was made because the All India Congress Committee had recently stopped listing the name of the aforementioned Congress leader as a member of the Assam Pradesh Election Committee.
Digital Desk: Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee has formally resigned from the party one day before the start of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which is set to restart from Manipur on Sunday.
The decision was made because the All India Congress Committee had recently stopped listing the name of the aforementioned Congress leader as a member of the Assam Pradesh Election Committee.
Speaking to the media following his resignation, Bhattacharjee declared, "I have left the Congress party because I am not optimistic about my political future. It is unexpected that Delhi's leaders are taking the stance that "Dilliwala" is to blame for the party's current demise. When the Assam Pradesh Election Committee kept me away, I left the party. If senior members find themselves in an environment devoid of dignity, they must leave the party. That's why I chose to leave the party. I'll play on a separate field because I'm a player.
Additionally, Bhattacharjee asserted that Bhupen Kumar Borah, the president of the APCC and a significant contributor to the party in the state, was in danger. He said that those in authority of the state, leaders of the Delhi High Command, were plotting against him.
Bhattacharjee went on, "First, the Congress party should think about giving justice to the party workers, and then they should think about the Yatra," in reference to the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. It would be naïve to think that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will have any influence in the Northeast or the state of Assam, given the Congress's lack of popular support."
According to sources, the former Congress leader is expected to join the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). However, it is anticipated that Kuldeep Borua and Shankar Prasad Rai, two more Congress candidates from the previous assembly election, will join the BJP.
In the meantime, the APCC's media department announced in a statement that Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, will lead the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which will resume early on Sunday morning from Manipur.
"APCC, under the direction, of Media, will broadcast live coverage of the entire event from Rajiv Bhawan starting at 8 AM. Bharat Narah, Chairman, Media, APCC, Naba Talukdar DCC President, Media I/C, and other Senior Leaders will be in attendance in addition to Mahima Singh, Spokesperson, Communication, AICC, and State Coordinator," the statement reads.
